In The New York Times01, Jeanne Gang and Greg Lindsay use their proposal for Foreclosed: Rehousing the American Dream 02(an exhibition co-organized by Museum of Modern Art and the Temple Hoyne Buell Center for the Study of American Architecture and opening on February 15 at MoMA) to discuss the fact that design and urban planning have been ignored in recent efforts to fix the housing market. "Too often during the bubble," the authors write, "banks and builders shunned thoughtful architecture and urban design in favor of cookie-cutter houses that could be easily repackaged as derivatives to be flipped, while architects snubbed housing to pursue more prestigious projects." Also, a reminder of upcoming events related to the exhibition opening, including the February 13 screening of The Pruitt-Igoe Myth03, "Public Dreams and Private Needs" at MoMA04 on February 17, and "What is Foreclosed? Housing, Suburbanization, adn Crisis: A Forum" in the Rotunda of Low Library on Feburary 18, an event05 that brings Jeanne Gang back to GSAPP.
